What is Voicely Language?+
Voicely Language is a language fitness app — not a language learning app. The difference matters. We don't give you streaks or points for showing up. We measure four real skill dimensions (Pronunciation, Comprehension, Production, Retention) using the CEFR standard, and track your progress in Fluency Points. Your coach, HEXI, adapts every session to your weakest ring.
What languages are supported?+
Voicely Language supports 40+ languages, with dialect-specific content for key varieties — Québécois French, Colombian Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Austrian German, and more. Dialect briefs are built into the curriculum so your training matches the region you're learning for.
What is HEXI?+
HEXI is your AI language fitness coach. HEXI speaks in your own voice (via your voice clone), sequences your daily training based on your weakest FP ring, explains what each session is building, and coaches you through pronunciation in real time. HEXI is not a chatbot — it's a system designed around second language acquisition research.
What are FP Rings?+
FP Rings (Fluency Points Rings) are four CEFR-anchored progress meters: Pronunciation, Comprehension, Production, and Retention. Each ring only updates when that skill is genuinely assessed — Pronunciation updates from pronunciation tasks, Comprehension from listening tasks, etc. Your overall CEFR level is determined by the lowest ring, because real fluency requires all four dimensions.
Do I need to do the CEFR placement test?+
Yes. The placement test is mandatory and cannot be skipped. Self-reported levels are inaccurate — learners consistently overestimate. The placement test gives HEXI a real baseline to sequence your training correctly from day one.
Voice Clone
What is the voice clone and why does it matter?+
Your voice clone is a personalised text-to-speech voice built from a 30-second recording of your voice. HEXI uses it to model what you would sound like speaking the target language fluently. Neuroscience research (fNIRS, 2025) shows that hearing a familiar voice — especially your own — activates prefrontal and temporal cortex simultaneously, producing stronger memory encoding than hearing a stranger's voice.
Is the voice clone recording stored?+
The 30-second recording is sent to ElevenLabs to generate your clone. Once the clone is created, the recording is no longer needed. ElevenLabs does not use your voice to train public models. You can delete your voice clone at any time from You → Voice Clone.
Can I re-record my voice clone?+
Yes. Go to You → Voice Clone and tap the re-record option. A new clone will replace the existing one.
What happens to my voice clone if I delete my account?+
Deleting your account removes your voice clone from ElevenLabs within 24 hours and all associated data from our systems within 30 days.
Training Sessions
How does a daily training session work?+
Each session opens with an SRS (spaced repetition) warm-up of your weakest vocabulary. HEXI then sequences two training modes — one targeting your most depleted FP ring, one cross-modal complement. Sessions end with a FP snapshot so you can see real change. Duration: 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on your goal.
What are the training modes?+
Training modes include Pronunciation (phoneme scoring with Azure), Word Bubbles (reading with haptic encoding), Listening Comprehension, Grammar Production, Conversation (live AI back-and-forth), SRS Flashcards (SM-2 algorithm), and Scenario Missions. HEXI selects which modes you get based on your ring state.
What are Missions?+
Missions are high-intensity practice scenarios: Phone Call, Debate, Speed Drill, and Interview. They are FP-gated (you must have a minimum ring score to unlock them) and limited to one per day. Each mission has a WHY panel explaining the research behind it.
What is multisensory encoding?+
Multisensory encoding fires haptic (vibration) patterns in sync with audio and visual input during training. Research by Stein & Meredith (1993) shows that aligned auditory + visual + tactile inputs produce superadditive neural responses — the brain consolidates information faster when three channels fire simultaneously. Each haptic pattern in Voicely is linguistically motivated, not decorative.
Subscription and Billing
What plans are available?+
Voicely Language offers a 14-day free trial, then Pro and Premium plans billed monthly or annually. The annual plan saves 2 months compared to monthly. You can view current pricing in the app under You → Upgrade.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
Cancellation is managed through your Apple ID. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Voicely Language → Cancel. We cannot process cancellations directly. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?+
Open the app, go to You → Upgrade, and tap "Restore purchases." Your subscription will be restored using your Apple ID.
Can I get a refund?+
Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and submit a refund request. Apple's refund policy applies. We are unable to issue refunds directly.
What is included in Pro vs Premium?+
Pro includes unlimited daily training sessions, all 40+ languages, dialect-specific content, pronunciation assessment, and HEXI coaching. Premium adds voice clone creation, advanced conversation mode (HEXI Realtime), UUS pronunciation scorecard, all 33 dialect briefs, and priority support.
Account and Data
How do I delete my account?+
Go to You → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. All your data, voice clone, and learning history will be removed within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
What data does Voicely Language collect?+
We collect your email, name, voice recordings (for voice clone and pronunciation assessment), learning session data, and anonymised usage analytics. We do not collect payment information. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Is my data sold to third parties?+
No. We do not sell, share, or rent your personal data to any third party for commercial purposes.
Can I export my data?+
Yes. You can request a copy of your data by emailing us at hello@voicelylanguage.app. We will provide your data in a structured format within 30 days.
Troubleshooting
The app is not recording my voice — what do I do?+
Check that Voicely Language has microphone permission: iOS Settings → Voicely Language → Microphone → Allow. If permission is granted and recording still fails, force-quit the app and reopen it.
My pronunciation score seems wrong.+
Pronunciation is scored by Azure Cognitive Services at the phoneme level using the same CEFR-anchored rubric as official language exams. Scores reflect accuracy, not effort. Record in a quiet environment, hold the device 20–30cm from your mouth, and speak at a natural pace.
HEXI is not responding.+
HEXI requires an active internet connection. If HEXI appears stuck, check your connection, then force-quit and reopen the app. If the issue persists, contact us at hello@voicelylanguage.app.
My FP rings are not updating.+
FP rings update only from their designated assessment sources — Pronunciation from pronunciation tasks, Comprehension from listening tasks, etc. Completing a task from a different ring will not update another ring. If you believe there is a calculation error, contact us with your session details.
